The General Director of the Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (EAGME), Mr. Dionysis Goutis, was featured on ANT1’s program “BraveNewGreece” in the episode titled “BraveNewMetals.”
The discussion highlighted the crucial role that the responsible utilization of Greece’s mineral wealth plays in supporting the Green Transition and emerging technologies, as well as how the “hidden treasure” beneath Greek soil can contribute to the growth of the national economy.
Mr. Goutis presented the mission of EAGME, emphasizing that it is “the country’s official institutional authority for the research and development of mineral raw materials.” He further noted that “Greece holds a strong competitive advantage and can play a decisive role in Europe’s effort to reduce dependence on third countries for the supply of critical minerals.”
Referring to the impact of minerals on everyday life, he added: “We have verified deposits of strategically important and critical minerals such as bauxite, copper, and nickel, along with a number of other mineral resources. It is our duty to continue exploring these deposits, expand our reserves, and ensure their sustainable and efficient utilization.”
