The Hellenic Authority for Geological and Mineral Research (EAGME), responsible for the country’s public mineral exploration, carried out mineral exploration drilling in the Public Mining Area of Kimmeria, Xanthi, within the framework of the OPYGEK Project.
The Public Mining Area of Kimmeria covers a total area of 237 square kilometers, with mineralization consisting of magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and molybdenite, along with minor amounts of scheelite.
These new exploration drillings form part of the National Mineral Exploration Programs conducted by EAGME, aiming to increase the country’s reserves of Strategic and Critical Raw Materials essential for the energy transition, with measurable economic and social value for Greece.
