Physical Object:
The physical scope of the project aims at a more systematic study of the geomorphological structures of the Greek territory, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive recording of the available information and the establishment of standardized methods for systematic large-scale geomorphological mapping.
Purpose – Expected Results:
The preparation of the first Geomorphological Map of Greece at a scale of 1:1,000,000, the compilation of available data into a unified database, and the initiation of systematic large-scale geomorphological mapping constitute a pioneering effort for Greece, as such a project has been lacking until now—unlike in other countries.
This project will complement the ongoing work of HSGME in recording the nation’s geological heritage, highlighting its value to the entire scientific community. Furthermore, through collaborations with other institutions (e.g., universities), it will promote the exchange and dissemination of expertise and knowledge.
